The rulebook

Questions, answered.

Everything about scoring, deadlines and the global table — in plain language.

Scoring

How do I earn points?

Three tiers, every match. 5 points if you call the exact scoreline. 3 points if you get the right result and the right margin. 2 points if you only get the outcome right. Anything else scores nothing.

What counts as the right margin?

The goal difference. Predict 2–0 and the match finishes 3–1 and you have the winner and a one-goal-either-side margin of two, so that's 3 points. Predict 2–0 and it finishes 1–0 and you still called the home win, so that's 2 points.

Are draws scored the same way?

Yes. A predicted draw that lands on the exact score pays 5, and any other drawn result pays 2. The margin tier doesn't apply to draws, since every draw has the same margin.

Deadlines & picks

When do my picks lock?

At kick-off. Until then you can change your scoreline as many times as you like, so early picks are never a risk.

Can I pick after kick-off?

No. Once a match is under way the fixture closes and no points can be earned from it. Missed matches simply score zero.

What if a match is postponed or abandoned?

Picks are carried over to the rescheduled date. Abandoned matches are voided and score nothing for anyone.

Competitions

Which matches can I predict?

International tournaments and the major club competitions, round by round. Every fixture appears on the Fixtures tab with its own deadline.

Do extra time and penalties count?

No. Scorelines are settled on the 90-minute result, including stoppage time, exactly as the official record lists it.

Leaderboards

How does the global table work?

Every point you earn feeds your season total. The Global tab shows the top 100 with your own row pinned to the bottom, so you always see where you stand even if you're 40,000th.

What are the arrows next to each rank?

Weekly position changes. A snapshot of the whole table is taken once a day, and the arrow compares your rank now with your rank a week ago: ▲ +47 means you climbed 47 places, ▼ -8 means you slid eight, and — means you held station.

What are the weekly spotlights?

At the foot of the Global tab, Predictor of the Week names the highest scorer of the last completed round, alongside either Biggest Climber or Bold Pick of the Week — the contrarian scoreline almost nobody else called.

Accounts, money & fair play

Do I need an account?

Yes. An account keeps your picks and your ranking attached to you across rounds and devices, and it's what makes the global table meaningful.

Does it cost anything?

No. Called IT is free on the App Store for iPhone.

Is this gambling?

No. There are no stakes, no deposits and no cash prizes. You're playing for points and bragging rights only.

Can anyone see my picks before kick-off?

No. Predictions stay private until the deadline passes, so nobody can copy your call.
